Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where our warm team will welcome you and transfer you to a top-rated hotel in Moshi. Unwind, enjoy a detailed trek briefing with your guide, and prepare for the journey ahead.

  • Driving Time: 45 km / approx. 40 minutes

Day 2: Moshi – Londorossi Gate – Mti Mkubwa Camp

After breakfast, drive to Londorossi Gate for registration, then continue by 4×4 to the trailhead. Begin your hike through thick rainforest, where monkeys, birds, and endemic flora surround you. Arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp in time for hot dinner and relaxation.

Day 3: Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira 1 Camp

Trek into the moorland zone, gaining elevation and passing stunning viewpoints like Shira Cathedral. Reach Shira Camp 1, where views of Mount Meru and the vast Shira Plateau await.

Day 4: Shira 1 to Shira 2 Camp

Today, the landscape becomes more rugged. Continue across the plateau to reach Shira Camp 2, with incredible views of Kibo Peak and nearby glaciers. Optional short hike to Lent Hills for acclimatization.

Day 5: Shira 2 to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower

Ascend to the dramatic Lava Tower at 4,600m, then descend into the Barranco Valley. This up-and-down day is key for acclimatization. Rest under the majestic Barranco Wall.

Day 6: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Climb the famous Barranco Wall, a thrilling but manageable challenge. Traverse ridges and valleys before arriving at Karanga Camp, your final acclimatization camp.

Day 7: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Make your way to Barafu Camp, the base for your summit push. The landscape is alpine desert, silent and awe-inspiring. Rest, hydrate, and prepare mentally and physically for the summit.

Day 8: Summit Day – Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Mweka Camp

Begin your summit attempt around midnight. Trek through the freezing night toward Stella Point, and onward to Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point. Witness the sunrise from the Roof of Africa, then descend to Mweka Camp for a well-deserved rest.

  • Distance: 19 km | Time: 14–16 hours

Day 9: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate – Transfer to Arusha

Descend through rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your official summit certificate. After farewells with your mountain crew, transfer to your luxury hotel in Arusha.
